National Technical Systems Inc. said preliminary results show that its revenues reached a record $15 million in its third quarter, and its nine-month revenues also set a record with $41.7 million.
The latest quarterly result marks a 22% jump in revenues compared to $12.3 million in sales in last year’s third period. Meanwhile, the company estimated that its nine-month sales jumped by 20% compared to a year earlier.
The company attributed the strong results to demand for staffing from companies that are downsizing.
National Technical Systems also said its acquisition of Laboratory Testing Systems in Massachusetts, and the purchase of a staffing division from Johnson Engineering Corp. in Texas, were particularly strong.
National Technical Systems, based in Calabasas, is a provider of engineering and testing services.
National Technical said it also a contract with the U.S. Air Force to operate the science and engineering test laboratory at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento. NTS said the contract, effective until 1999, could be worth up to $10.5 million.
