WESTLAKE — Four men suspected of stealing merchandise from a Pavilions supermarket Wednesday were arrested by a sheriff’s deputy after he spotted their car on the Ventura Freeway.
Authorities said three men entered the store at 1135 Lindero Canyon Road, took more than $400 worth of merchandise from a display case and then ran from security guards. They fled in a waiting car.
Store employees called the Sheriff’s Department, and a short time later a deputy pulled over a car on the northbound Ventura Freeway at Wendy Drive in Newbury Park. All four men were taken into custody. Authorities said the stolen merchandise was recovered.
The men were booked into the East Valley Jail on suspicion of grand theft. They were identified as Tranquilino Luzania, 21, and Ramiro Ramirez, 22, both of San Jose; Carlos Lopez, 21, of Hollywood; and Oscar Navarro, 25, of Los Angeles. They were being held in lieu of $10,000 bail each.
