STINGRAYS TONIGHT
Opponent--Portland Power.
Time--7.
Site--Portland Memorial Coliseum.
Records--Long Beach 13-10, Portland 17-9.
Update--If one-time UCLA All-American Natalie Williams had signed with the WNBA instead of the ABL, Long Beach might well be 15-8. Last week, Williams scored 26 points in the second half and overtime as Portland beat the StingRays, 69-67. On Nov. 18, at the Pyramid, she made the only three-point shot of her pro career at the horn to put game into overtime, then led Portland to an 85-80 victory. Williams is the ABL’s No. 2 rebounder and scorer. She is shooting 55% from the floor. Long Beach’s Yolanda Griffith is Coach Maura McHugh’s No. 1 weapon. When she scores 20 or more points, the StingRays are 11-2. Venus Lacy is averaging 14.5 points and nearly 10 rebounds in her last six games. Tonight’s game marks Long Beach’s fifth try at three consecutive wins.
