A 79-year-old woman foiled the plans of an alleged burglar Saturday morning after she confronted him as he climbed through her window, authorities said.
Police said Lillian Mayer confronted a man as he tried to climb through a window of her home in the 2900 block of Tapo Street shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Faced by the woman, he fell onto the ground and fled. He was captured by police a short distance away.
No one was injured in the incident.
Edward V. Larsen, a 30-year-old transient, is being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Superior Court.
