Four Injured When Plane Hits Turbulence

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three passengers and a flight attendant were injured when they were tossed around the plane as a flight from Las Vegas hit turbulence Thursday night.
Southwest Airlines Flight 1497 hit some turbulence about 350 miles from the Nashville airport, where it landed at 7:55 p.m., officials said.
Three people were treated and transported to a local hospital by airport emergency medical personnel, Metropolitan International Airport Authority spokeswoman Deann Bradford said.
It was a regularly scheduled flight into Nashville from San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas, she said.
Ginger Hardage, a spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines, said the Boeing 737 flew into thunderstorms that were not visible on radar.
The flight attendant, one of five crew members, was the most seriously injured, Hardage said. She said 103 passengers were aboard.
Passengers told WSMV-TV that people hit the ceiling and were tossed around he plane as it dropped 500 feet, then plunged another 500 feet.
