GARDEN GROVE — The partially burned body of an unidentified man was found inside a trash dumpster by Garden Grove firefighters early Saturday morning.
The firefighters made the discovery at 6:21 a.m. when they were called to put out a fire inside the dumpster behind a strip mall at 12801 Harbor Blvd., police said.
The severity of the man’s burns has made it impossible to determine his age or ethnicity.
“We have no physical description at this point,” Sgt. Joe Johnson said of the victim. “He was badly burned.”
Johnson said the cause of death will have to be determined by the Orange County coroner’s office. He said investigators are treating the case as a homicide but so far have no witnesses.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious in that area at that time in the morning we’d like to hear from them,” Johnson said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department at (714) 741-5704.
