L.L. Knickerbocker Co. Inc.: The Lake Forest marketer of collectibles, jewelry and other products posted a third-quarter loss, while sales climbed 70%. The company reported a net loss of $586,000, or 3 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $339,000, or 2 cents a share, for the 1996 third quarter. Sales increased to $14.1 million from $8.3 million. For the first three quarters, the company said it lost $5 million, or 28 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $1.5 million, or 9 cents a share, for the comparable nine months last year. Sales more than doubled to $45.2 million from $18.9 million. The company said the sales increase was primarily due to its acquisition of Georgetown Collection Inc. in the fourth quarter of 1996.
