The City Council has approved forming a task force to combat sexually oriented businesses.
“I just want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to look for opportunities to close down [adult businesses] that are breaking laws and limit new ones from coming into the city,” said Councilman Bob Zemel, who had suggested creating a task force.
The task force will include representatives from code enforcement, the Police Department, city attorney’s office and intergovernmental relations. Zemel and Councilman Lou Lopez also will be members.
“I think a task force would keep abreast of any laws in regards to curbing these types of businesses and help our city enforce the laws in regards to permits,” said Tim Murphy, a West Anaheim resident for 20 years.
The city has five nude or topless adult entertainment businesses as well as several adult book and video stores.
