Paintball Warriors Getting Indoor Facility

A paintball business received City Council approval this week to open an indoor playing field, observation area and store.
Owners of the Paintball Armory say they expect platoons of corporate weekend warriors and young people, 11 and older, to take part in the sport.
“People are aggressive anyway, and this game kind of gets it out,” said owner Kathleen Walker, of Mission Viejo. She said her son David, 19, prompted her and her husband to open a first store in Laguna Niguel more than two years ago.
The 8,000-square-foot recreational facility will be camouflaged with AstroTurf, fake rocks, wooden bunkers, silk trees and safety netting for games of friendly warfare using biodegradable colored gel. The center is scheduled to open Jan. 1.
