A final report detailing the probable environmental impact of a proposed theater and retail complex in Westwood Village has been published and a public hearing on the project scheduled for mid-December, officials said Tuesday.
Charlie Rausch of the Los Angeles City Planning Department said his office had completed a lengthy environmental impact report on the original project proposed by developer Ira Smedra for Village Center Westwood.
As originally proposed, the center called for more than 4,700 new movie theater seats, a 50,000-square-foot supermarket, stores and senior citizens housing.
Smedra subsequently submitted a scaled-down version of the project with 3,400 theater seats, fewer housing units and less space for restaurants. An addendum to the report addresses the revised project, Rausch said.
Rausch said the report will be available for public inspection today or Tuesday at the latest at the city public library in West Los Angeles, the Kaufman library branch in Brentwood and at the Central Library downtown.
A public hearing on the project will be held Dec. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Olympic Collection Banquet and Conference Center, Versailles Room, 11301 Olympic Blvd.
