Officials Say Israel Will Free Palestinians

Israel will soon release dozens of Palestinian prisoners, including several leaders of the militant Hamas movement, Jordanian officials said. A high-ranking Palestinian official, who was not named, told Israel Radio that if the Palestinians were released, Jordan would free two alleged Israeli operatives being held after an assassination attempt against Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal. Jordanian officials said most of the dozens of prisoners who would be freed are senior Hamas leaders.
