A Mixed Salad
In his article on whether the new Getty Center is “too good for Los Angeles” (Opinion, Oct. 5), Michael Ventura has aptly portrayed the character and personality of L.A. Indeed, here in what outsiders often call La-La Land, the mainstream is not a homogenous melting pot a la a white-dominance mold. Rather, it is a multi-ingredient mixed salad. You can add your own dressing to cater to your particular palate, but each ingredient is distinctly visible.
Those who think L.A. lacks permanency are actually lamenting the passing of the white-centered society that belongs to the past.
