ROBY, Ill. — The 51-year-old woman involved in a monthlong standoff with authorities shot a police dog through the nose Sunday after officers had sent pepper spray into her house, authorities said.
Shirley Allen also fired a shot when police used mirrors on long sticks to peer into her farmhouse, but no one was injured, state police director Terrance Gainer said.
The dog, which was sent in to find Allen, was being treated at a veterinary hospital.
Police sent nine canisters of pepper spray into her home.
Allen has held off police since Sept. 22, when sheriff’s deputies and her brother tried to commit her for a psychological exam.
