GOLDEN WEST FAIR: Congregational Church of the Chimes will hold its 47th annual Golden West Fair--with midway games, a country store and a silent antiques auction, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 14115 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks. Free admission. Information: (818) 789-7124.
JAZZMEN TO PERFORM: The Night Blooming Jazzmen will play Dixieland jazz tunes at a New Orleans-themed fund-raiser offering a Cajun food buffet and Southern-style desserts at 7 p.m. in Woodland Hills Presbyterian Church, 5751 Platt Ave. Admission is $15, to benefit the church’s earthquake recovery loan. “X-FILES” PARODY: While the “X-Files” TV series suggests that the truth is out there, the Burbank Church of Religious Science will launch a free seven-week program to show the truth is within the realm of inner space at 9:15 and 11 a.m. from Sunday through Nov. 2 at the church, 260 N. Pass Ave. With such titles as “X-ploring Spirit,” “X-hibiting Grace” and “X-alted,” the program features skits that parody “X-Files” and gives participants personal casebooks with clues to solve weekly cosmic mysteries. BRIDGING THE GAP: West Valley Christian Church will reach out to local families to raise awareness about the church and its school with “Bridge the Gap,” a free festival that includes concerts by former Santana singer Leon Patillo and En Vogue vocalist Cindy Heron, as well as a moon bounce and face-painting for children, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Warner Center Park, corner of Califa Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Woodland Hills. RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY: Cal State Northridge will host “Cultures and Religions: Seeds of Coexistence,” a day of workshops and speakers representative of a variety of religions, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the campus, 18111 Nordhoff St. Some of the 25 workshop topics are “Can Same-Sex Unions Receive Religious Blessing?” “The Truth About Witchcraft” and “Religion in the Movies.” Admission is $15, including a box lunch.
