Janov Leads Golden West

Peter Janov had six goals to help Golden West to a 13-5 second-round victory in the Merced men’s water polo tournament Friday.
Golden West (11-0), ranked first in the state, beat Diablo Valley, 17-7, in an earlier game. Janov had two goals in that game. The Rustlers play today in a quarterfinal round.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Irvine Valley 3, San Diego City 1--Hector Castillo, Booby Sadaavi and Dave Sabet each scored a goal for Irvine Valley (8-3-2).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Cypress 1, San Diego Mesa 1--Vedda Desatoff scored on a penalty kick in the 77th minute for Cypress (7-1-1).
Orange Coast 3, El Camino 1--Andrea Taylor, Kelly Wilkins and Megan Waters each scored a goal for the Pirates (5-2-2).
San Diego Palomar 1, Fullerton 0--Michelle Brauer made 13 saves for the Hornets (4-2).
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Saddleback 3, Rio Hondo 0--Richelle Danet had 24 assists as Saddleback defeated Rio Hondo, 15-5, 15-7, 15-5. Gina Stivers had seven kills for the Gauchos (2-0).
