Delta Cancels Pets’ Travel Plans
High-flying pets were grounded last week by Delta Airlines, which stopped accepting live animals as checked baggage due to the national heat wave. The airline cited concerns that high temperatures, combined with flight delays on the ground, could make animals ill or even kill them. The airline said passengers whose pets are barred can rebook in advance without penalty or receive full refunds. The embargo runs through Sept. 15. In some cases, the airline continues to allow small animals to ride in the passenger cabin if their cages fit under the seat. Information: (800) 789-8156.
