Simi Valley Schools Candidate

The Simi Valley Board of Education has hired eight superintendents since 1990 and opened a new Santa Susana High School amid vociferous parent groups turning up the political heat.
I believe in order to change school board leadership, we need to repair the community relations that have gone sour with neglect. I actively support community involvement in the process of change; accountability for administrators, teachers and students; and community-based standards for excellence. Our community must play a unique and individual role in deciding what its high school graduates should know and be able to do.
I also support the continued need to identify and assist those students whose needs are not being addressed in the traditional school settings.
I support a new district standards-based accountability system that will focus on increased student learning and achievement.
This is a critical time for public education in California. School board members throughout the state are responding to requests for more accountability in public education and higher standards for all students. I am committed to providing leadership to make the necessary changes to the Simi Valley school board.
As an educator and school counselor, I will advocate maximizing fiscal resources in order to ensure quality educational programs for all students.
