School District Names Acting Superintendent

The Palos Verdes Unified School District has filled the vacancy created by its superintendent’s resignation just two weeks before the start of the school year.
Ira Tobin, who had served as the district’s assistant superintendent of personnel since 1995, was named acting interim superintendent, a spokeswoman said.
Ann Chiebicki stepped down on Tuesday after four years at the helm of the 14-campus district. She was not available for comment, and board members have refused to discuss the details of her decision.
The school board is scheduled to formally accept her resignation in its next meeting, Sept. 22.
