Scholarship Established in Memory of 2 Students

A scholarship fund has been established at Pomona College in memory of two sophomores who were killed in a storm last month when a tree fell on their vehicle, officials said.

A memorial service for Brian G. Cressner and Yuta Peter Kurahashi will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Bridges Hall of Music at the college. The two friends were driving to class Feb. 23 when the four-ton eucalyptus tree crushed their vehicle, killing the two. Authorities said the ground had been soaked and was unstable after two days of rain.

Contributions to the scholarship fund can be sent to Anita Moore, Development Office, Pomona College, 550 N. College Avenue, Claremont, CA 91711.
