City Delays Joining Airport Authority

Saying it wants to see plans for non-aviation use of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, set to close in 1999, the City Council has delayed joining the Orange County Regional Airport Authority.
The council was responding to a request from Anaheim Mayor Tom Daly, who chairs the airport authority, to join the coalition of pro-airport cities. Ten cities belong to the coalition.
The El Toro Reuse Planning Authority, a consortium of South County cities opposed to a commercial airport at the base, will report in April.
