PTA Sale Helps Out School and Scholars

For the second consecutive year, Moorpark High School’s PTA is selling commemorative mugs to raise money for campus students.
Money from the phone-a-thon, scheduled through Thursday, will go toward enhancing the campus’ technology and library and creating college scholarships, said Carol Golya, vice president of the school’s Parent-Teacher-Student Assn.
The money is “to serve all the students in the school, not just one group or club,” Golya said. “If the teachers have any requests for us, they can petition us for money for their class’ needs.”
The mugs, featuring the school’s crest, can be purchased with a minimum $20 donation. The group hopes to raise at least $10,000.
Money raised last year was used for repairing microscopes, purchasing a computer for the library and scholarships, Golya said.
Volunteers will telephone Moorpark residents from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. this week. Those wishing to volunteer can call Golya at 532-1633 or Alice Cantwell at 529-7992.
