A Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable shot and killed a woman armed with a shotgun and her 8-year-old son during a brief shootout after a social worker tried to remove the woman’s children from her home in the Tsuu T’ina Reserve in Alberta, police said. Police discovered the two bodies outside the house after a four-hour standoff. Inside were five other children, who were turned over to officials. A social worker and a tribal police officer had gone to remove the children because the mother reportedly had been feuding violently with her husband.
