L.A. Master Chorale’s ‘98-99 Season to Feature 7 Concerts

The Los Angeles Master Chorale will offer seven concerts in its 1998-99 season, its 35th year at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center.
Six of the events will be performed by the 120-voice choir conducted by music director Paul Salamunovich, and one by a guest ensemble.
The season commences with a two-part program consisting of the Requiem by Maurice Durufle and William Walton’s “Belshazzar’s Feast,” Oct. 11. A double-chorus concert of music by Orlando di Lassus, Frank Martin and Randall Thompson follows, Nov. 1.
The annual “Home for the Holidays” event is scheduled for Dec. 13, this year offering the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah,” along with Roger Wagner’s “St. Luke’s Story.”
Repertory associated with the late founder of the L.A. Master Chorale will be sung on the Jan. 24 event, a “Roger Wagner Celebration Concert.” A guest ensemble, the Moses Hogan Chorale, will perform on the series, Feb. 28. Composers represented on the April 25, 1999, L.A. Master Chorale concert are Brahms and Morten Lauridsen.
The season closes May 16, 1999, with “Great Opera Choruses,” an audience favorite.
All concerts are in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Sunday nights at 7:30.
