Tourism Web Site Shows Where Movies Shot

Combining film and travel, the state’s Division of Tourism has developed a new Web site that shows film buffs where movies and television shows throughout California were shot.
In an effort to spur tourism around the state, officials have listed locations where 240 shows and movies have been filmed during the last five years. Only significant movies shot in locations accessible to the public are included on the Web site, which will be expanded through the year.
Clicking on the movie camera icon at https://gocalif.ca.gov, for instance, site visitors will find that “Clear and Present Danger”, starring Harrison Ford, was filmed at John Wayne Airport in 1994. “Apollo 13”, starring Tom Hanks, was shot the same year at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach.
“We see it as another reason for visitors to visit California,” said Fred Sater, a department spokesman.
