Bob Hoxsie has been named citizen of the year by the Chamber of Commerce for his efforts in building and launching the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley at Mile Square Regional Park.
The center opened last year, in part due to Hoxsie’s fund-raising efforts. City Councilman John J. Collins said the award to Hoxsie “is richly deserved.”
Hoxsie began serving on the club’s board of directors in 1986 and has helped guide the program from the beginning. He is board president.
For 15 years, Hoxsie has been involved in volunteer programs, including the American Red Cross, Fountain Valley Historical Society, Grace Lutheran Church, Disaster Preparedness Advisory Council, Orange County Children’s Theater and U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
His wife, Julie Hoxsie, serves on the Fountain Valley School District Board of Trustees.
