GM to Use Impco’s Dual-Fuel Systems
Impco Technologies Inc., the Cerritos developer of alternate fuel systems for the transportation industry, says that General Motors Corp. signed a deal to install Impco’s “bi-fuel” system on some Chevrolet Cavaliers to be sold this summer. The system allows the vehicle to run on clean-burning compressed natural gas or on gasoline.
Impco moved its research department and a manufacturing unit to Irvine last year, and it is in that 80,000-square-foot facility that development work on products like the twin fuel system takes place.
The dual-fuel Cavaliers will be available at Chevrolet dealers this summer, said Robert Stemmler, Impco’s president.
