Re “This Land Is Whose Land?” April 19.
As our battle with the U.S. Forest Service and the members of Congress intensifies, it is time to remember that the next Congressional election is less than six months away. One of the most effective ways to stop the public lands recreational fee demonstration program, known in Southern California as the Adventure Pass, is to write or call your senators and members of Congress to let them know that as long as they are willing to use your public lands for the profit of big business, they should begin looking for a new job.
Our government officials have intentionally called this program something different all across the country in an effort to prevent the people from joining together in a nationwide fight against their plan to charge us to enter and use our own public lands. Fortunately, they have underestimated the will and determination of the American people.
Thousands of people nationwide have joined together in this fight, thanks to the efforts of many local, grass-roots groups searching each other out to share information and strategies on this battle front. Most of these groups are relying on the American public’s outrage at the attempt to steal our public lands.
Remember, only you can prevent forest fees!
