Mayor to Discuss Revamping West Side
Mayor Peter Buffa will take his vision of a revitalized west side to the Latino Business Council on May 28.
Formally the Latino Leadership Council, the group was initially formed to focus on economic, social and political reform in the west side. Though the council now has a business focus and is an arm of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, it still considers the area west of Newport Boulevard a primary concern.
Buffa announced in January that creating plans to revitalize the area is high on his agenda. Ideas include cleaning up the bluffs to make them attractive to home builders, revamping shopping centers and improving traffic flow on congested streets.
City Manager Allan L. Roeder also will speak at the meeting, which begins at 8 a.m. at Avila’s El Ranchito restaurant, 2101 Placentia Ave.
