Three people were injured Tuesday when a Los Alamitos police car transporting a prisoner to Orange County Jail collided with a convertible, authorities said.
The accident between the Ford Crown Victoria patrol car and a Mazda Miata took place at 11:30 a.m. at Bristol and Hesperian streets in Santa Ana, said Angel Johnson, spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol.
Miata driver Jonathan Price, 38, of Lake Forest was reportedly trapped in his convertible before being treated for minor injuries at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
He suffered a bruised ankle and fractured toe, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The prisoner, 20, was treated at UCI for cuts on his forehead and other minor injuries.
Police would not release the charge against the prisoner or his name, saying only that he was arrested on suspicion of a felony.
The police officer, whose name was not released, was treated at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana for minor injuries and released.
Johnson said that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
