Woman, 76, Dies After Being Struck by Bus

VENTURA — An elderly woman was struck and killed by a South Coast Area Transit bus at the corner of Main Street and Ventura Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Ventura police, the bus hit the woman while it was making a right turn onto Ventura Avenue. The 76-year-old woman, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was pushing a shopping cart through the intersection when she was struck.
The bus, driven by Oxnard resident Jack Watterson, clipped the woman with its rear wheels at 1:15 p.m., according to police. She was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
