Newbury Park def. Alemany, 15-13, 10-15, 16-14, 15-7--Brigham Young-bound Robert Congelliere provided powerful play in the middle, contributing 11 kills and 10 blocks for the visiting Panthers (19-5).
Alemany (11-6), fourth-place finisher in the Mission League, gave the Panthers a scare in the third game. The Indians came back from a 14-11 deficit and fought off two game points to tie the score at 14-14. But a lift was called on Alemany setter Richard Nelson and then Casey Rosdail hit the ball into the net, giving Newbury Park the win.
Nelson, a 6-foot-3 junior, was a force for Alemany. He was digging, blocking, contributing kills and making spectacular assists. He finished with 10 kills, 10 digs and five blocks.
