New Market and Traffic

* The residents of midtown Ventura need to be aware that Albertsons wishes to shoehorn in another market in the area of Borchard and South Katherine Drive. We are already well served by two major chains and two small independent markets and have no need for another market.
Attending a meeting in which a representative of Albertsons talked of putting a parking structure on top of the store in order to compensate for the obvious lack of space, I was left with a sense of how disconnected these corporate giants are from reality.
The traffic at the intersection of Loma Vista, Main and Katherine Drive produces weekly accidents, and trying to cross the street as a pedestrian is a near-death experience. The city of Ventura does not seem to have much concern for anyone walking.
The addition of more traffic, more air pollution and more noise would greatly hurt property values in this area.
Let your elected officials know you do not want or need this. If I remember correctly, the homeowners of the Ventura College area were successful in preventing this type of project, and that area is not even as traffic congested as this area.
