* NationsBank faces a federal grand jury inquiry involving the sale of mutual funds and other securities, court subpoenas show. The criminal inquiry by a Tampa, Fla., grand jury follows a $6.75-million civil settlement with regulators this month by NationsBank. The Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators allege NationsBank misled customers by marketing volatile securities as safe banking products. Separate grand jury subpoenas seek information about securities sales by NationsBank and by Barnett Banks Inc., which was acquired by NationsBank earlier this year, according to the documents. Neither NationsBank nor Barnett has been served with subpoenas, spokeswoman Pat Sisley said.
