Clinton and China

A May 21 editorial, “Democrats and the China Link,” states, “If solid evidence should emerge that the waiver on satellite exports was influenced by Chinese contributions to the Democrats in 1996, then a sweeping reappraisal of relations with Beijing would become all but unavoidable.”
What would and should become unavoidable if such evidence were uncovered is not so much a reappraisal of America’s relationship with China but rather its relationship with Bill Clinton, a man who became so enamored of and greedy for power that he was willing to damage American national security so as to secure that power through illegal Chinese campaign/bribery money.

Bill Press (Column Left, May 21) believes Trent Lott and Newt Gingrich are looking for conspiracies where none exist. If the Chinagate brethren did not want to influence the Democrats, then why bother to give money at all?
