Anthrax Letters Sent to School, Church
A letter claiming to contain anthrax bacteria was opened at a Catholic parish in Indianapolis, prompting about 481 elementary students and teachers to flee the parish school. The Chicago office of an anti-abortion group and a Roman Catholic Church in suburban Buffalo, N.Y., received similar letters. The letters were received 10 days after a similar threat cleared an Indianapolis abortion clinic. Nine people were decontaminated at Queen of Martyrs Church in Cheektowaga, N.Y., after the parish received the letter. However, officials said it was not immediately clear if any of the letters contained the deadly bacteria.
