Neighbors again expressed opposition to the Bixby Ranch development proposal at a hearing Monday. Opponents of the plan to turn the 218-acre property into a commercial/retail center with senior living facilities and expanded golf course turned in 1,330 signatures against the project, while only seven people wrote to support it. Opponents’ main concern is traffic.
But the development company says it would pay $1.2 million to help widen Seal Beach Boulevard and make traffic conditions better than they are now. Bixby’s consultants also said the area needs a new retail center.
After three hours of testimony, the City Council continued the hearing to Tuesday.
