Two men who produced a note demanding money robbed a Union Bank branch in San Clemente Monday, Orange County sheriff’s officials said.
The incident happened shortly after the opening of the branch at 638 Camino de Los Mares. The robbers told bank personnel that they had a gun, though no weapon was seen.
The two escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and were last seen driving north on Interstate 5, sheriff’s officials said. The department did not release a description of the vehicle or of the robbers, other than to identify them as two black males.
Officials asked late Monday that anyone with information about the incident contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at (714) 628-7171.
