Cathedral 54, Bell-Jeff 14--Edward Chaidez rushed for 206 yards in 25 carries and accounted for both Bell-Jeff touchdowns on runs of 52 and 13 yards, but the Guards (2-4, 1-2) fell to the Phantoms at Cathedral.
Cathedral led, 48-0, early in the third quarter before Chaidez scored on his 52-yard run to cap a 74-yard, seven-play drive.
Chaidez’s 13-yard scoring run, ending a 14-play, 73-yard drive, came with 35 seconds remaining.
Chaidez added the conversion run for the final points.
Cathedral receiver Earvin Johnson caught five passes for 108 yards and four touchdowns--all in the first half. Phantom quarterback Robert De La Cruz completed nine of 14 passes for 210 yards and six touchdowns.
Bell-Jeff’s passing game accounted for minus-two yards.
