Re “Serbs Mourn 14 Farmers as Violence Continues,” July 29: It is sad that the Kosovar Albanians have nurtured the spirit of revenge after their recent ordeal. It would have been better if they had come out of this hardship with the determination that never again will they see anyone else in the same plight that they underwent.
The spirit of revenge is understandable but it is vicious and unbecoming of the Kosovars, who stood so courageously against oppression and commanded the sympathy and help of the world in their fight against oppression. Revenge has caused many wounds; let us give forgiveness a chance to heal them.
As a majority of the Kosovar Albanians are Muslims, I would like to remind them about a saying of prophet Muhammad with the hope that it helps them to overcome their present rage: “A Muslim is one who establishes relations with one who breaks them, forgives one who hurts him and gives to one who deprives him.”
