Fire Use

To suggest that the death of early species was due to some caveman’s use of fire (“Early Humans’ Fire Use Linked to Extinctions,” Jan. 8) is rather farfetched. Perhaps a more believable explanation for man’s surviving some as yet unknown environmental permutation is that humans were able to prosper simply because of their intellect and ability to think.
