Qantas Putting Sleeper Seats on Sydney Route
- Share via
Starting Wednesday, Qantas becomes the first airline to offer fully reclining “sleeper seats” in first class on flights between LAX and Sydney, Australia. The seats, similar to those on British Airways transatlantic flights, convert into 6 1/2-foot-long beds. Both United Airlines and Air New Zealand, which also fly the route, say they plan to introduce sleeper seats later this year. Qantas is making other changes in its Boeing 747-400 interiors, including high-tech business-class seats with five motors to adjust the “fit,” economy class seats with “increased personal space” and La Brea Bakery breads in first and business (sorry, coach passengers).
