YORBA LINDA

Planning Commissioner Kenneth Ryan was the first would-be City Council member to pick up nomination papers this week for a vacant seat to be filled at a special election March 7. Three other residents have shown an interest in the post.
David R. Christian, G. Keith deBrucky and Arthur F. Gerdes also pulled papers to run in the March 7 special election, city officials said.
The person elected to the vacant position will serve on the council until November 2002. As of Tuesday afternoon, no one had completed and filed the paperwork.
To become a candidate in the race to become Yorba Linda’s fifth council member, interested residents must fill out the paperwork and file it with the city clerk.
The information required of the individuals who want to run in the special election is the same as the details provided by candidates in regularly scheduled council races, City Clerk Carolyn Wallace said.
