Quarterback Gordie Pinedo of Hueneme, who has missed the last three games with a bruised collarbone, has been advised by his doctor not to play in the Vikings’ Southern Section Division IV opener against Thousand Oaks on Friday night.
Pinedo, a sophomore, has thrown the ball in practice for the last two weeks, but his doctor doesn’t believe his collarbone has healed enough to withstand being tackled.
“He thinks I might be able to play next week if we win this week,” Pinedo said.
Pinedo completed 30 of 66 passes for 561 yards and nine touchdowns and had only one pass intercepted before being injured Oct. 22 against Rio Mesa.
