* TEXAS (1-0) at No. 4 UCLA (1-0), 6--The Bruins survived a big scare in their season-opening victory against North Carolina on Saturday at Lubbock, Texas. UCLA trailed, 65-63, with 2:29 to play but held North Carolina scoreless the rest of the way, winning, 69-65. Texas beat Nicholls State, 74-60, in its opener. Senior forward Edwina Brown scored a game-high 26 points, including her 1,000th point.
