Trail Run Series an Off-Road Test
Scott McKenzie got his start in ultra-distance running at Baz Hawley’s first winter trail run series in 1993. The 2000 series, which starts Jan. 1, is a good test to see if runners might enjoy off-road running.
All races start at Blue Jay Campground, which is reached via Ortega Highway in the Cleveland National Forest. The entry fee for the races is $15, except the 50K, which is $45.
For more information, call Hawley at (949) 635-6988.
The race schedule:
Jan. 1--8K; Jan. 15--12K; Jan. 29--15K; Feb. 12--Half marathon; March 11--Relay (4 x 10K); March 25--San Juan Trail 50K.
