In memory of late Fullerton School District staff members Marie Sweet and Janet Knoll, the Fullerton chapter of the California School Employees Assn. will donate $500 next week to the district’s Educational Foundation.
That is in addition to more than $1,000 in donations made to the foundation in their honor by principals, school board members, district staff and community members, said Konnie Gault, assistant to the superintendent.
Sweet, the superintendent’s secretary, died in August of a brain tumor. She was 50. “She was really loved,” Gault said.
Knoll, who was a benefits clerk at the district office, died last spring of cancer at age 56.
The funds will be used to sponsor grants that fund teacher-initiated programs such as field trips, garden projects, book purchases and visiting poets. Contributions in the memory of both women may be sent to the Fullerton School District Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 5317, Fullerton, CA 92835.
