He’s Got Game and a New House

TIMES STAFF WRITER

L.A. Lakers forward Rick Fox, who just married actress-singer-former Miss America Vanessa Williams, has purchased a newly built home in Marina del Rey for just under its $2-million asking price.

Fox, 30, and Williams, 36, married in late September. It’s a second marriage for both. They have four children between them.

Fox signed a six-year, $25-million contract with the Lakers in August. The eight-year NBA veteran is also an actor and has appeared in Spike Lee’s “He Got Game” (1998) and HBO’s series “Oz” (1997).

Williams, named Miss America in 1983, released her debut R&B; album, “The Right Stuff,” in 1988. She made her Broadway debut in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1994) and appeared with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie “Eraser” (1996).

The five-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot house has ocean views, a hot tub on the roof and an elevator. Floors and cabinets are made of cherrywood except in the baths, which have marble floors, and the house has 11- and 12-foot ceilings.

The home was built by Daniel Ganezer. He was represented by Valerie Fitzgerald of Coldwell Banker Previews, Beverly Hills, and attorney Gary B. Torpy, while Fox was represented by Sandy Jacobi and Barbara Fain, Prudential-John Aaroe, sources said.

Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst has purchased a four-bedroom home in the Beverly Hills area for close to its $1.4-million asking price.

The rap-rock group’s lead singer, 28, bought a 3,500-square-foot house with city views.

Durst, who directs videos and discovers new talent, was named in July as a senior executive of Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records, which also gave the vocalist his own label. Limp Bizkit’s new CD, “Significant Other,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in July.

Bob Ross of Re/Max Beach Cities represented Durst, and Josie Benjamin of Fred Sands Estates, Beverly Hills, had the listing, sources said.
