The city’s animal controllers will tell the City Council how they are keeping dog owners in check at tonight’s City Council meeting.
Last June, several residents complained to the city about dog owners letting their furry friends run free in public parks and roads even though city laws prohibit it.
Since June, the city’s three animal control officers, contracted from Mission Viejo, have patrolled the city’s parks several times each day, said John Gonzales, Mission Viejo Animal Services supervisor.
The officers also have started giving leash lawbreakers written warnings.
The City Council will meet at 7 tonight in council chambers, 27841 La Paz Road.
