The Police Department hired an investigative aide in a new full-time civilian position, created to free up officers for patrol.
Josta McDowell, who joined the department last week, had previously worked for the Buena Park Police Department, and will help detectives with the administrative aspects of criminal investigations, Lt. Mark Yokoyama said.
