Although it was not Valentine’s Day, roses were going by the dozens Wednesday at My Sweetheart Florist.
It was part of a promotional giveaway designed to celebrate Good Neighbor Day, a little-known holiday that owner Ashwin Parekh says is celebrated in both Canada and the U.S.
Parekh planned to give away 2,000 roses of various colors to customers Wednesday and today, he said. Recipients were encouraged to keep one rose and give the others to friends.
“It’s a good chance to make friends with your neighbors,” said Parekh, 41, of Reseda.
